HAYWARD The largest mobile home park in Hayward is for sale, causing uncertainty for many who live in its 462 households.

Spanish Ranch I Mobile Home Park also is one of the city's oldest. Residents say its age is beginning to show, but they don't want a new owner to make them pay for years of neglected improvements.

"People are very, very concerned about their future," said Kathie Morris, president of the Hayward Mobilehome Owners Association. "It's an all-age park. You're talking about a lot of families there."

Perhaps the most dramatic worry that a land developer could buy, raze and convert the park to something else, as has happened in other Bay Area communities is "highly unlikely," said park property manager Greg Evans.

"There are some folks who are in a tumult over all of this, and I think this is more of a tempest in a teapot," said Evans.
